Well things are progressing at the Trans house. They are now building new saw tables to work off of and have set the generator in its new place. Ernie and Marval have been working on a new plan for training the woodworking students. It is exciting to see things come together. Here are a few pics from last week:
I decided to tackle cleaning up the kitchen at the trans house. It was a little messy. Below are a few of the before and after pics. The sink has a major leak so that has got to be fixed before any cooking can take place and all things will need another thorough cleaning. Some of the girls are wanting to come over and make some Valentine ’s Day cookies. That should be a fun project.
Today Tami Jo and I watched over the girls in sewing class while Ginny is on vacation. Here are a couple of the projects they are working on. Rope and material baskets & little zipper bags.
Even in Haiti you can watch the Super Bowl!! Last night we went over the Tugwell’s for a Super Bowl party. Enjoyed being with a lot of our new friends.
I have to say I am still struggling with missing our friends on the mountain. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about them and pray for them. I miss the beauty of the mountains and the laughter on the front porch and the kids singing. My heart aches to give those kiddos a hug. I know God has this detour in our life for a reason. Please continue to pray for us during this time.
Ernie and I have been looking at different homes and apartments in Port au Prince, in the area where Child Hope is located, but have not found the right one yet. It is amazing how expensive rentals are in this area. But we want to be in a safe area. Many places require a full year’s rent up front. You also have to have your own generator, inverter and batteries if you want to have electricity. No appliances are included. Pray that we will be able to find a suitable place that we can afford.
Please pray for Haiti right now. President Martelly’s last day in office was yesterday. There is now an interim government which, as I understand, has as their main goal the setting up of elections by April 24 and a new president is to take office in May. Of course as you know the elections have already been postponed numerous time because of disagreement and conflict. The next 2 days are Carnival in Port au Prince so things could get a little crazy. Pray for stability for this unstable country. Pray for God to lead the people.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
